Back Surgery

I have decided with my doctor’s help and much prayer and research that I will have back surgery (Laminectomy/Discectomy). The surgery is minor and I will be back to work within 2 weeks. I know with your prayers and Gods healing power that I will recover quickly and return to normal activities soon. The surgery will relieve the pressure on my sciatic nerve that is caused by a herniated disc between my L5/S1 discs. In most cases pain is relieved with conservative therapy. In my case the Doctor has told me that conservative treatments will not relieve the pain and after many weeks of therapy I agree. This is considered only the first step in recovery from my condition. I have a degenerative disc condition, which means that my lumbar disc will continue to degenerate but will not necessarily cause pain in the future. I will do my best to live a normal life and have good posture, lift properly, eat healthy, exercise every day and have a positive mental attitude. It is amazing how our body functions properly when we function properly. I also have faith that God will continue to provide every need in my life. I also recognize that that He has given us life on earth and He can take it away. God is mysterious and all powerful and I trust in his provision and I will do my best to be a good steward of my body here on earth. It feels like I should raise my right hand at this point like in the Boys Scouts and repeat out loud. This is what I should do every morning to remind myself. I hope this makes things clear for you.
