Recently I HAD to make a visa run because my visa was going to expire. All you need to do is leave the country and come back so I decided to go to Thailand and visit a friend from the states that is living just outside of Bangkok. On my travels I met some great girls from Colorado. They were on summer break and were working in Korea and traveling in Thailand. I met my friend at the airport and the girls and I parted ways. I was dropped off at scary hotel number 1. I spent the night real cheep and woke up in the morning expecting to spend the day with my friend. I called him and he was not able to meet up with me until later that evening. I walked down the street and found some coffee stand. The lady proceeded to make the coffee but the last step involved a bag of ice and a lot of sweetened milk. It was the best coffee I have ever had in a bag.
Then I got in a taxi and headed towards the place where all the tourist go. This place was great. A lot of foreigners and a ton of cheep knock-off items. I was expecting to see the girls I had met earlier and just as I turned the corner, there they were. They were on their way to book flights to this Island called Phi Phi Island. They invited me and I could not pass up the opportunity. Some of you may know the movie the Beach, with Leonardo Decaprio. That is where I was going, minus all the drugs from the movie.
After taking a flight and buying cheep swim trunks for the beach, we arrived in Phuket. In Phuket I stayed in an amazing hotel. In the morning the girls and I got an hour long Traditional Thai Massage. This was great. The massage was right on the beach. The sound of waves crashing and the cool beach breeze was no extra cost. After our massage we took a boat to Phi Phi Island. We met some more great people on the boat ride over and made friends.
We arrived on the island and we could see the damage from the Tsunami. They were rebuilding a lot of the shore. We all stayed in Bungalows on the Island. The pictures are clear on how beautiful the place was. The night shots were my favorite. It was a full moon.
The next morning I woke up and met the girls for breakfast. We had Thai pancakes with potatoes, tomatoes and egg. We decided to catch a boat taxi around the Island. It was cheep and the driver was authentic Thai Island. The boat ride was a bit choppy but all worth it when we swam in the beautiful clear water and walked on the white sandy beaches.
At 2 I had to catch the boat back to Phuket Airport where I took a flight back to Bangkok. I said goodbye to the girls and headed back. After arriving in Bangkok my friend once again picked me up. It was such a blessing to have someone meet me at the airport and drive me around. Then we headed to scary hotel number 2. This place had no windows and the front door led into a parking garage. There were mirrors on all the walls. Needless to say, it was a shady place. I slept well and woke up to go shopping with my friend Jesse. We walked around and he helped me bargan for a cool Diesel bag. I did not have much time or money so we left for the airport to fly back home.
The trip was great and I do recommend the beaches of Thailand to anyone. But like a lot of Asian countries there is a lot prostitution so be careful if you ever travel here. God is good and protected me the whole trip. Thanks for your prayers and support.
God Bless

Kevin,
You are an artist in every medium that you work with. Your photos are beautiful, your journey is beautiful, and your motives are beautiful.
Christian doesn't understand much about what I am showing him when we look at your blog together but when he sees your pics he keeps saying "Wow, that's a pretty picture mama".
He prays with me when I pray for you.
God Bless
